چکیده

In this paper, the authors present a new and robust conformal Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) algorithm for the accurate modeling of perfectly conducting objects with curved surfaces and edges. We illustrate the application of this approach by analyzing a number of representative antenna and cavity problems. These include a quarter wave monopole mounted on a perfectly conducting elliptic disk, a circular patch antenna, and a cylindrical cavity. We validate the me~od by comparing the results for the pattern, impedance and resonant frequency, etc., with those denved by using other techniques.

Accurately and Efficiently Studying the RF Structures Using a Conformal Finite-Difference Time-Domain Particle-in-Cell Method

This work introduces a conformal finite difference time domain (CFDTD) particle-in-cell (PIC) method to accurately and efficiently study electromagnetic or radio frequency (RF) structures and their interactions with charged particles. For illustration, the dispersion relation of an A6 relativistic magnetron has been determined and a preliminary hot test including electrons has been done. The ac...

A Conformal FDTD Software Package Modeling Antennas and Microstrip Circuit Components

1. Abstract: This paper describes a conformal Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) software package and presents its applications to RF antennas and mcrostrip circuit components. The program includes a Visual Basic GUI for graphically inputting the object geometries, setting source and boundary conditions, generating a non-uniform mesh, and post processing of the data. A robust Conformal Finite...

An Efficient and Accurate Method to Solve Low Frequency and Non-Conformal Problems Using Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD)

In this article we present νFDTD (New FDTD), an efficient and accurate method for solving low frequency problems and with those non-conformal geometries by using the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. The conventional time domain technique FDTD demands extensive computational resources when solving low frequency problems, or when dealing with dispersive media. The νFDTD technique is a...

A Comparison of Two Conformal Methods for FDTD Modeling - Electromagnetic Compatibility, IEEE Transactions on

Wo conformal finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) methods are considered, the contour path (CPFDTD) method of Jurgens et al. 141 and the overlapping grid (OGFDTD) method of Yee et al. [6]. Both TE and TM scattering from a two-dimensional (2-D), perfectly Conducting circular cylinder are used to test the accuracy of the methods for curved surfaces. Also, TE and TM scattering from a 244 perfectly...

A Study of Electromagnetic Radiation from Monopole Antennas on Spherical-Lossy Earth Using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method

Radiation from monopole antennas on spherical-lossy earth is analyzed by the finitedifference time-domain (FDTD) method in spherical coordinates. A novel generalized perfectly matched layer (PML) has been developed for the truncation of the lossy soil. For having an accurate modeling with less memory requirements, an efficient "non-uniform" mesh generation scheme is used. Also in each time step...
